Feeling a little down? Try these strategies to reclaim your energy
Hello! We are really happy you’ve come by for a chat. Let’s Tango!
When you’re feeling down or like you are in a slump, it can be hard to focus on work and tasks. The lower your energy, the less you do, the worse you feel about it, and you can spiral downward. The good news is that being productive can help interrupt that negative spiral and help you turn it around.
I know – it can be hard to focus and get things done when you’re down, and now I’m telling you that getting things done is the antidote. The key is finding things to accomplish that feel lighter so you can start to turn it around.
Identify two types of daily activities
Start by identifying two types of activities daily: those that provide a sense of accomplishment, and those that bring pleasure and joy. Start simple.
Activities that provide a sense of accomplishment
Exercising: A short walk or workout can boost your mood.
Household chores: Washing the dishes or tidying up can give you a quick sense of achievement.
Work tasks: Sending that email you’ve been putting off or scheduling a meeting can help you feel productive.
Activities that bring pleasure or joy
Enjoying nature: Sit outside in the sunshine with your morning coffee.
Quality time: Spend 10 focused minutes playing with your child or pet.
Reading: Read one chapter of a book you enjoy.
Spread activities throughout your day
Break these activities up and spread them throughout your day. Don’t do all the easy stuff first or all the hard stuff at the same time.
Delegate or Ask for Help
Maybe a co-worker, boss, friend or family member can take a few things off your plate, at least for a little while.
Organize your productivity
Organizing your productivity in this way helps you prioritize the most critical work and tasks that add the most value and pushes some of the less important items to the side. Adding some pleasure and joy to your day helps everything feel a little lighter.
Thanks for stopping by. We hope you found at least one little nugget you are taking away with you. What will you do to bring it into full living color?
